Winter Olympics

I'm actually looking forward to March 1st, the weather men are predicting typical winter weather to finish off February.

Just working on the strength training this week while catching up on the medal totals at the Winter Olympics...and some shoveling to top off the morning workout.

Noon time at the gym for some more strength training and leg work.

More snow in the news for tomorrow, sleep in til 5am and start the day all over,

have a great one,

Dry Land Workouts

In these winter days, I sometimes have a difficult time getting my butt up out of a nice warm bed and get into a cold car to head to the pool.
Once I get there, the world is fine, but what happens when I don't leave home.

I usually (6 out 7 days) do something physical for an hour and 1/2 if I don't swim. I have a variety of exercise DVD's and lately because the Olympic coverage has tempted me to stay home, I usually run through a routine with my Free weights, medicine balls, and Vasa trainer (picture from the summer days).

...but I know there's nothing like the feel for the water, February is almost over and spring will shake out that winter procrastination.

...maybe tomorrow but we're expecting more messy weather, could be another morning at home.

We will see,
Dream, Prepare, Succeed.

I'm back on track...

Happy 2010 everyone,

Some Cross-Training Winter fun today after a fressh 7 inches snow fell yesterday.

Shoveling or better described pushing snow off the medium-long uphill drive while Mocha the amazing Chocolate Lab searched for his racquetball hidden in the snow.

Should be back to the pool tomorrow, won't drive the distance through the hills on nasty, slippery roads.

Always do something, to challenge the core, shoulders and mostly the mind.

Dream, Prepare, Succeed.

2015 ... Swimming for Homes for the Brave

After spending the past 20 years paddling from Dover to France, it is time to venture into new waters, while helping some special people.
Soon, I will be traveling with my A-team to Scotland to swim the length of the famous Loch Ness.
As always, I try to help a Foundation raise funds and awareness and I thank you for interest and support.
I am deeply troubled with the thought of homeless individuals, especially in our US Veteran population.

That is why I am teaming up with our Connecticut-based “Homes for the Brave”. Can you imagine not having a place to call home?

I will always be dedicating my swimming to all those battling cancer and in the memory of 4 special people in my life. Cancer first hit my family when I was young. My grand-aunt Eleanor Kersavage, passed away with uterine cancer and my Auntie Bea Halchak battled with brain cancer.

On January 1, 2002, our LEHY family lost Nikki Giampolo to bone cancer, just turning 16 years old. Her spirit still lives on in our East Hartford swim team.

In July of 2009, my brother-in-law, Gregory Allen Urban, who passed away, after a valient battle with lung cancer. I can see him now, talking about cars and projects around the house, music and his family.

I know Aunties, Eleanor and Bea, Nikki, Greg and all the angels will help me CUT through all this water this summer.

The St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, based in Bridgeport, CT provides financial support for the needs that Health insurance companies don't cover, in addition to providing affordable cancer screening, wigs, medication and other things to make life easier for those suffering with cancer and their families.
